An atmosphere you can turn.
The clouds are procedural 3D volumes. You can move around them, change the light, and watch lightning illuminate a thunderstorm from within. On phones, drag to orbit and pinch to zoom. Open the sliders button to change the cloud or lighting.
An analytic core
Each cloud is built from overlapping 3D Gaussians. Their extinction along camera rays is integrated analytically, giving the volume its opacity and soft edges. Overlapping cloud lobes, edge wisps, and smaller attached surface puffs give the clouds their contours. The clouds in the viewer are generated geometry; they are not photographs or camera-facing image cards.
Smooth motion first
Automatic render speed targets 60 fps. It adjusts splat detail to the device's measured workload. Cloud and image resolution stay fixed as you zoom or the speed changes. Turn it off to take manual control. Initial cloud creation, lighting updates, browser scheduling and device limits can still interrupt that target.
Where the approximation begins
Sunlight uses a sampled shadow volume. Multiple scattering, boundary shading, and lightning illumination are approximations. Shapes are static rather than a fluid simulation; lightning follows a procedural stroke sequence. This is an interactive rendering study, not a calibrated weather model.
